As we think about getting our groups back together, there's a real need to connect in-person, strengthen our bonds, and make new commitments to being together. But, going back to playing online will always be the easy way. And like in so many other aspects of modern life, convenience will take priority over quality if we let it.

RPGs are games of the mind, but they are also games of the heart and the hand. Unlike the visual overload of video games, tabletop RPGs work their way into our emotions through all our senses, including touch. Tokens are a classic staple of old school tabletop game play, just like clacky dice, heavy minis, and shared snacks.

Battle Tokens are simple and easy to make, so you can have multiple tokens to represent all those 2d6 goblins even if the DM rolls high.

The set includes classic monsters of all sizes, represented with clear and consistent icons. And, the back of each token has some stats like AC, HP, and attacks that can help you keep your eyes on the action rather than stopping to bury your nose in the book.

Tokens have always packed away easily and traveled well. Our Battle Tokens go one step further to really travel in style. The optional coin purse holds tokens securely under a unique iris closure that other players will want to fidget with, if you let them. The coin purse can also hold dice, Cube Minis, or your other small items.

How to Make

Paper crafting difficulty: Easy.

  1. For print-at-home, pay what you want for the templates at DMsGuild.com. You will also gain access to Google Drawings documents that you can copy and edit.

  2. Choose the art that you want. Print the needed templates on cardstock paper.

  3. Cut on the dotted lines and crease on the solid lines. Fold, glue, and assemble according to the included instructions.

Game Night Advantages

  • Bring along tons of tokens in a compact package. Or make them as a group activity.

  • Make as many as you need to represent hordes of monsters.

  • Flip over to remind yourself of monster stats rather than looking it up.

  • Random encounter? Skip the dice and just draw monster tokens from the coin purse.

  • Show off your old school RPG style and start conversations at home, school, or office. For example, make them into fridge magnets.

  • Gift them to your hard working DM or dedicated players as a unique keepsake representing the time you shared together.
